GoRead - Newsletter for the month of May

It has now been three months since GoRead launched, and hundreds of authors have already released their audiobook, e-book, or printed book through the service. In the picture you can see some of the features available to make your life as a self-published author better, so that you get read and listened to in all the ways customers find easiest. Here are some things the GoRead team has shipped recently, and is working on right now:

NEWS

  • Nicer manuscript and interior layout. Our ambition is to format your manuscript with high accuracy and give you a nice interior layout, even if you forgot to set a chapter heading or accidentally added too many blank lines. Do check out our new interface, especially if you want to publish a physical book, but the e-book also looks nicer now.

  • Edit your manuscript directly in the service. Change something you're not happy with! You can now edit your manuscript directly in our service. Correct typos or tidy up chapter headings, add a blank line, etc. We hope this makes your work easier. It means you don't have to delete your project and start over from the beginning. All in all, your book becomes the way you want it and reaches your readers faster and more easily.

  • Sales report every month. We have now arranged monthly reporting from all sales channels and audiobook services. They come with a 30-day delay from the last day of the month. You'll find the sales report under My account / Sales.

  • Payouts. All authors with royalties exceeding SEK 500 can now have their royalties paid out. If you are one of them, there is information on how to enter your payment details under My account / Balance & Payout.

UPCOMING

  • More variants of your printed book will soon be available for ordering! We are now preparing to give you the option, in addition to Trade paperback (softcover), to also choose Hardcover for your printed edition (135x210 mm), both in a slightly smaller format than the current size (155x230 mm). This will be in place within a couple of weeks!

  • We continue to improve the interior layout. The next area we're tackling is non-fiction and children's/young adult books. Here our focus lands on increased font size and line spacing for children's and young adult books, table of contents, lists, tables, images, paragraph formatting, and quotes, to name a few.

  • Author page on the way. Soon you will be able to create your own author page. This is good in two ways. On the one hand, you create a unified presentation about yourself, your books, and your authorship that publishers, media, and readers can take part in. On the other hand, we can send this information to the platforms that have spaces for author presentations. So you get portrayed there.

  • The audiobook - quality assured. We have an internal validation and correction step where we take extra care with words that can be difficult to pronounce correctly. It can be certain personal names, places, certain inflections, genitives, or homographs. Before the audiobook production starts, we go through it to eliminate mispronunciations in your audiobook. In the long run, you as a customer will also be able to make your own corrections to your audio file.

  • More languages, more countries
We are in the process of translating the service into English and some Nordic languages. Before the summer holidays, it should then be possible to upload manuscripts and publish your book, e-book, and audiobook in the new languages as well. In connection with this, we also hope to add a few more audiobook services to which your audiobook can be distributed. We're starting with Audible.

Read the newsletter on GoRead's website, and take the opportunity to upload your manuscript today!
