GoRead launches - aims to become a YouTube for books

GoRead is now launching with the goal of becoming a YouTube for books. GoRead was founded in 2023 by developers Victor Holmqvist and Björn Hickman from KTH, IT consultant Sara Wallerstedt and Storytel founder Jonas Tellander. As a first step, they are offering a publishing service for books and audiobooks in Swedish.

Here is what Jonas Tellander, one of the founders behind GoRead, says:

"We think it is currently too complicated for aspiring authors to get their book manuscripts out there. The lead times are long and the costs are high to reach their first readers and listeners. YouTubers and podcasters have direct access to their audience and can, video by video and podcast by podcast, develop their creativity through the feedback they receive from their viewers and listeners. It should work the same way when you have written a book manuscript. Even if the book does not always become a bestseller on the first attempt, the saying 'practice makes perfect' applies to authors as well. That is why GoRead exists, and we expect to help many more people reach their full potential as authors."
