Don’t Judge Us!

Nov 01,2016

There are so many misconceptions surrounding Stay-at-home moms. People sometimes envision this 1950s glamorous June Cleaver, happy-go-lucky, cookie-baking persona. Well, this is not me- not exactly. I bake cookies, but being a SAHM encompasses so much more. Too often people ask, “What do you do all day?” Let me tell you, and I’m certain other SAHMs can relate.

We are super heroes. We save lives! Countless times I find myself dashing across the room trying to prevent a fall or confiscate a questionable object that spells “danger.” Don’t judge us. These little people find things as they always seem to be on some sort of expedition.

We clean- All day! Let me tell you, my children can cause some serious damage in seconds- CAT 4 tornado damage. I’m still trying to figure out how this is humanly possible. You are most likely to come to my home at this exact moment. Don judge me. It happens. Instead, offer to help. (Don’t worry, I’ll most likely decline.)

We smell people and things. Yep! There’s such a thing called the “smell test.” I know you can relate. There’s this unpleasant odor and in an effort to find the source, we smell things. Don’t judge! Because I’d rather find and eliminate the source rather than get strange looks from my house guests.

We’re responsible for feeding you. This of course includes grocery shopping, where the little ones will more than likely try your patience. I’m simply trying to run in and out of the store as quickly as possible. However, it doesn’t always work out that way because we’re trying to select the best food options to keep you as healthy as possible, and this may take some time (You’re welcome.). So, when my little one gets squirmy, don’t stare, don’t judge. Just smile and go about your merry way.

We wash your clothes. This can be an all day event as there as so many distractions. Just do us a favor and put your dirty laundry INSIDE of the hamper. It helps. If it’s questionable, it will be washed!

While this list could be never-ending, at least you have an idea. Now, here are some things you can do to help.
1 – Say “Thank you!”
2- Don’t judge us!
